— The Oratory in Formation —

Pray with Us

The community invites you to join us in the church for our common prayers during the week.

Join us in prayer.

In the mornings we have a time of quiet meditation from 7.30 to 7.55 am Monday to Friday, and 8.30 to 8.55 am Saturdays. We sit in silence and reflect on God’s word together. This very special time gives us spiritual strength to meet the day ahead.

A time of prayer in the evening was very important to Saint Philip; we call it “evening Oratory”. On Mondays this consists of the devotions to Our Lady which are traditional in the parish, at 7.30 pm. From Tuesday to Friday we meet from 6.00 to 6.30 pm for a time of quiet prayer, at the end of which various litanies are recited, as was the practice in Saint Philip’s time.

Our main prayer together on Sundays is Vespers at 3.30 pm. This is the official evening prayer of the Church, and is sung in Gregorian chant. At the end of Vespers there is Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, and after that individual blessings are given with our very special relic of Saint Philip.

In prayer we find peace and joy; in prayer we discern what God wishes us to do, and we gain the strength to do it. The Dublin Oratory in Formation is a home of prayer, where you are always welcome.
